I’m a Nurse. Solution Focused Life and Stress Management Coach and Entrepreneur.
Kathy Parlevliet, the Nurse who knows. Feeling that this should be no surprise. It is an awareness that can take you very far in the world. If you were surrounded by acts of kindness. It would be likely for you to also share kindness. Being a nurse, it is almost a given. How can you be a nurse if you aren’t kind? The truth is that. Many nurses are more concerned about getting their job done. Too busy to really touch every person every day with kindness. I understand these feelings after years of nursing.
There is a level of compassion fatigue that enters our lives. We give. But receiving can be the answer to the moment. Look closely at how kindness comes your way. These realizations can have an impact on how kindness feels to everyone. When a random act is felt. The generosity and good feelings it brings, can be priceless. If we could carry the results around with us for awhile and move it forward into our lives. The mindset that, I am depleted, so tired, and no end in sight, can be altered.
Sometimes, I have had to remind our patients that Thank you is a very good word. It will take them far. An expectation that Nurses have to do everything I need or want during an illness, can create issues. We don’t all see eye to eye. And even though my assignment is to help you, it doesn’t mean you can’t say Thank you.
Kindness works. Try to remember why being a nurse is important to you. What started your journey through nursing? How is nursing now? What is in your control to make everyday a little better for yourself?
Focusing on the smaller wins, can make a difference throughout your workday. And be kind to each other. It will come back to you. Share good moments, or funny moments throughout your work day. And in the end of your day. Celebrate. You made a difference today. Not always in a expected way. But as a Nurse, you are already so special.
Not everyone can be a Nurse. If you need support. I am here. TheRNcoach.com. You are not alone. And always, Be Kind to Yourself.
